Al-Kalimah publishes in each issue a number of short stories by leading and new writers from the Arab world. The list of writers and titles of their stories published in the Arabic section in this issue are listed in the table of content. We also publish full novels, as is the case with the Children of Democracy by Yasir Sha'ban in January issue, the full text of the distinguished Egyptian writer, Sun'alla Ibrahim's, recent novel Al-Talassus (Eavesdropping / Voyeurism) in February issue, and in this issue, March, the new novel by the talented Iraqi novelist, Ali Badr, Al-Rakd wara' al-Dhi'ab (Scurrying after Wolves). When the fully bilingual version of Al-Kalimah is in operation all narrative texts published in Arabic will be available in English translation.

Fuad al-Takarli

Translated by Catherine Cobham

In his latest text, Fuad al-Takarli, the leading Iraqi novelist, offers his sarcastic and tragic-comic representation of the dire situation in Iraq and shows how occupation and religious mediocrity are leading the country into chaos, anarchy and destruction.
